happy 5 month birthday to my Brady bear!

Five months brings an endlessly drooling, squiggly wiggly, constantly curious little boy. He is just a slobbering mess. Everything within sight and grasp goes directly to his mouth where he finds the greatest of joy just gnawing away and slobbering on any object.  Sometimes when I am holding him in my arms, he gnaws at my chin or cheek.  And, of course, he slobbers all over my face.  But, he is precious and I do love him dearly. Slobber and all...

Brady is now on the move...well, more like on the roll! He is constantly rolling over.  Stomach to back, back to stomach, side to side.  He is on the go! If he is not on the floor rolling around, he is enjoying the exersaucer.  Sometimes he prefers sitting in the exersaucer so that he can take in the views. So much of the world to see and observe.  And observe he does!  He loves to be held in the arms of anyone willing to hold him so that he can look around and enjoy the surroundings.  He especially loves the the outdoors and loves staring at the trees and the green world around him. My favorite daily activity to do with Brady is going on our walks.  I put him in the stroller and off we go to the parks or trails.

Brady's personality is really developing this month.  He continues to flirt with the ladies, but really loves to interact with almost anyone and will flash his smile for anyone giving him attention. It seems that at the most tiring of moments when I am all out of energy, Brady knows that a sweet smile from him can make all of Mama's worries go away.  His smiles and coos and sweet little baby sounds really do make my day.

But don't let the sweet smiles and cuteness fool you!  Brady's temper will show up in a moments notice and he will become cranky and fussy and cry and scream to no end!  His squeals, screams, and cries have become so loud and obnoxious this past month.  But I am not surprised.  He came out of the womb kicking and screaming...

Brady at 5 months:
-finished up his size 2 diapers and moved into a size 3 diaper
-wearing 6-9 month clothes
-eats 5-6 oz of formula every 2.5-3 hours
-is not eating solids or rice cereal just yet, and Mama is in no rush to feed him solids just yet
-took his second road trip from Texas to Michigan this month.  His first road trip to Michigan was around 3 months.
-has better hand coordination- can pick up objects with his hands and move them to his mouth, as well as move objects from one hand to another
-found his feet this month. Brady likes to grab them with his hands.
-Brady does not like to sleep!  He takes little 20 minute catnaps every 2 hours.  Some days he will surprise Mama and take a 2+ hour nap, but those are few and far between.
-Sleeping through the night is a joke!  I have one of those babies that doesn't like to sleep.  Brady doesn't fall asleep until about 9:30-10 at night and will be up again at 3:00 in the morning for a feeding.

recipes

I follow recipes.  I follow them to a tee.  I love finding new recipes and testing them out.  I also love reading blogs.  I especially love reading this blog here.  And this blog here. So, blog + recipes = score!

Below are a couple of new recipes that I have tried.

First off was the Thai Turkey burger with mango salsa.  Sounds delish, right?
The picture on the blog is mouth watering.  I want to make that.  I can make that.

Everything about this meal sounds amazing.  I love Turkey burgers; I love peanut sauce; I love mango salsa too!  (Really need to stop loving things?)

So, I make this and I follow the recipe!  I leave nothing out.  I was so proud of myself because I made the mango salsa and the peanut sauce earlier in the day!  I just couldn't wait for dinner that night!  Dinner comes around, I finish making the meal, make my plate and my husband's plate, sit down at the table, and dig in!  The first two bites are good.  Then I start to taste all the flavors and all those things I love (turkey, peanut sauce, and mango salsa).  All of a sudden, I am really not liking these things anymore.  I m not liking them together!  Oh, but the picture on the blog made it look so good!  Okay, let's be honest, these three things (turkey, peanut sauce, and mango salsa) should never go together!  I love them individually, but they should never mesh. Ever. Again.  At least not in my kitchen and not in my mouth.  After, a few bites of my burger, I had to throw it out.  I ate string cheese and drank a glass of milk for the rest of my dinner that night.  My taste buds couldn't handle anything else. Yuck!  (I do like some of this sweet blogger's other recipes though!  I'm not hating on the blogger!  I'm just not a fan of this recipe!)

Okay, now onto dessert.  I made this last Friday for our pizza and movie night at my parent's house.  Neiman Marcus bars.  Look at this picture and drool.

Again, I followed the recipe and left nothing out. Sweet yummy goodness is what this is!  I loved this dessert and it was so easy to make!  I will definitely be trying the other Neiman Marcus bars on Mix and Match's blog.  And I will probably be trying one of Mix and Match Mama's Bundt cakes too!  Stay tuned for pics and reviews...
