On July 9, 2013, my sweet baby boy turned 6 months!
The months are just going by so fast! I blinked and suddenly I have a 6 month old on my hands! And a big 6 month old at that! My little wee cub is tipping the scales at 20 pounds. I took Brady to his first class at the Little Gym on Thursday, July 11. We were in a class with about 10 other mama's and their wee ones from ages 6-10 months. Well, Brady might have been the youngest one in class, but he took first place in size! Brady seemed to be double the height and size of all the 10 month old babies! I do love my little chunker!
Look at these baby legs...
At 6 months, Brady still has his daddy's dirty blonde hair color. Sometimes I see little highlights of blonde which is more noticeable whenever he has been out in the sun. Brady has such beautiful hazel eyes. A ring of gray on the outside, ring of green in the middle, and then a ring of light brown on the inside. Pretty eyes to match his charming smile!
Eating:
Brady is still on formula and is taking 5 ounces every 2.5-3 hours. Brady started on rice cereal at 5 and a half months(as well as started sitting in a high chair). He wasn't really a fan of the rice cereal and would make some funny faces whenever I fed it to him. Sometimes he would just keep his lips sealed shut and wouldn't let me put the spoon of rice cereal into his mouth. The stuff does taste like a cardboard box, so I don't blame the kid. Right on his six month birthday, we introduced oatmeal to him and he liked it much better than the rice cereal.
Sleep:
My Brady is not the best sleeper! During the day he takes about a 20 minute nap every 2 hours. At night, Brady is sleeping in his crib, but he is still waking up every 3-4 hours. My little babe does not sleep through the night, and I so wish that he would! I usually wake up to him crying, at which I just try to soothe him by giving him a paci. Most nights he falls right back to sleep after I put the paci in his mouth, but some nights he keeps crying until he gets a bottle. Mike and I try to put Brady down for bed anywhere between 8:30-9:30 at night. Brady will then proceed to wake up numerous times during the night, and then wake up for the day around 6-7 in the morning.
Activity:
Brady spends his days hanging out in his exersaucer, rolling around his play mat, reaching for toys and objects within sight, running errands with Mama, going for strolls in the park, swimming with Daddy, traveling to see relatives, or making trips to Little Gym. It's no wonder why he takes such short naps during the day...there is too much excitement for this little guy to miss!
Personality:
Brady is such a fun little guy! He loves people and he loves attention! He prefers to be in the arms of someone than to be laying down. He will flash a smile at anyone looking his way. He really is a charmer! And when he is well-rested and well-fed, Brady is just an angel!
But, Brady can be fussy, fussy, fussy!! I see a temper brewing in him. A temper like his Mama! He is impatient with his toys and will become extremely frustrated if one of his toys stops playing music or lights up. He will throw toys and then kick and scream because he can't reach it. Brady will also cry uncontrollably if he thinks that he is left alone. Seriously, if someone is not within an arms reach of him, he will cry and scream! I guess he just doesn't like when Mama tries to do chores while he plays. That's my excuse whenever chores don't get done!
Other thinks about Brady this month:
-wears size 3 diapers and 9 month clothes
-Brady is full of sweet giggles, coos, and babbles that just melt my heart! He does make vowel sounds and sometimes he can make a consonant-vowel sound like ga, ga, ga, or ba, ba, ba..he is especially talkative in the mornings
-changing him has become quite a challenge! Little guy likes to arch his back or roll side to side on the changing table
-loves toys that light up, play music, or make a rattle or crinkle noise
-loves to chew on his Sophie Giraffe
-his favorite songs are 'Wagon Wheel' and 'Rainbow Connection'. Brady likes to have one of these sung to him as he is rocked to sleep
-holding his own bottle
-loves zerberts
-stands up and bears his own weight when I hold him under the arms
-started sucking on his top lip and it is so cute!
-still loves bath time and have even started splashing water and kicking your legs in the water
-can scootch and turn himself around while laying on his tummy
-went swimming for the first time and seems to love the water
